Zanol Cup Hockey

In a sparkling game Poverty Bay junior reps defeated the Wellington juniors by four goals to one, thus retaining the Zanol Cup, top trophy for under 21 teams in provincial hockey.

Local players made a splendid account of themselves, so good that goalie, Denham, was called on to defend his goal only four times. Wellington goalie, R. Lockwood, was complimented as one of the outstanding players of the day, without whom the Bay score could have been considerably higher.
