Gisborne Art Exhibition

In opening the annual exhibition of the Gisborne Art Society in the art gallery late last month, the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, congratulated the exhibiting artists saying, "Each succeeding exhibition shows such constant improvement in standard and range of work, that I run some risk of repeating myself. With so many amateur painters turning out work of such quality, it is a compliment to Gisborne as well as to themselves."

Those present for the opening night of the exhibition were fully absorbed by the range of painting exhibited, as the pictures show.

Some of the interesting paintings exhibited are reproduced on the following two pages.
