At a recent meeting of the district Licensed Victuallers Association, held at the Albion Hotel, the opportunity was taken to bid farewell to two longtime members of L.V.A. and well known publicans; Messrs Harry Findlay and Arty Heeney, seated here aside the host of the day, Mr T. P. Smale.

The Rotary Oratory contest this year attracted over 40 entries - their subject, prominent people. The three finalists, pictured here, are Anne Slessor, Cynthia Nunns 1st, Esther Collins, whose respective subjects were James Mollison, Albert Schweitzer, Winston Churchill.

The Townswomen's Guild Singing Circle have every reason to look pleased with themselves. At the recent Hastings Guild Music and Drama Festival, the Gisborne circle walked off with two first and two third placings, competing against choirs from Hastings and Napier, The conductor, Mrs O.
