A Fine Forward Game

Every now and then in club Rugby, the stage is set for a good game. When the season opened in Gisborne, Ngatapa beat last year's competition winners. H.S.O.B., 28 to 6, while Old Boys beat Pirates by a whopping 53 points to 3. After a couple of rounds, Ngatapa was slated to meet Old Boys at Rugby Park. The result was one of the best club games ever seen in Gisborne, a fine forward game which was not decided until the last minute of play. In that minute, John Strang, the Ngatapa captain, clinched the forward supremacy of his team with a try to give him victory. The only score in the match, it was a fitting end to a great game.
