Members of the Riverside Women's Bowling Club had cause for jubilation last month when the news came through that a member of their club, Mrs A. Hamblyn had won the New Zealand women's singles bowling championship at the national tournament at Dunedin. Four club members took part in the tournament, and are seen above at the welcome home on the Gisborne railway station. From left (carrying coats) they are Mrs W. Purcell, who finished third in the singles contest; the team's leader, Mrs J. Sangwell; Mrs D. Roderick, who, with Mrs Hamblyn, reached the last eight in the pairs championship; and Mrs Hamblyn.
