Baptism by Total Immersion
Jehovah's Witnesses, whose church is opposite the Girls' High School in Gladstone Road, believe in two essential principles in their baptism service: The candidate must be old enough to make the decision, and the baptism must be by total immersion.
Pictures here taken at a recent convention in the city show four candidates being immersed in canvas bath outside the church.
Above, Candidates (standing) give vows to C. Calsbeck, district supervisor.
Immersion was carried out by Mr E. Coombe, of Hastings.
