Gisborne from Kaiti Hill

First call for most visitors to Gisborne is Kaiti Hill, from which this unexcelled panorama of the city presents itself. The lookout is only a few minutes by car from the main street. At above is Waikanae Beach, in centre the main business area, and at right the harbour basin and the rivers.

Post Office and Government buildings are on Customhouse Street in the lower business area.

Trees beautify many of Gisborne's streets, even in the centre of the city, as in this view (left) in Grey Street.

And the transition from city bustle to the quiet of gardens and riverbanks (above, at the Gladstone Road bridge) is often a matter of only a few minutes' walk.
