Anglers' Paradise

A concerted effort by members of the Wairoa Angling Club over the past twelve months has resulted in the construction of a splendid new fishing lodge at Mokau, ten miles by road round the lake from the Lake House.

On the Saturday of Labour weekend, the lodge was formally opened by Mr A. G. Harper, secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs, in the presence of a large gathering of the public.

The visitors were welcomed by the president of the club, Mr Tom Dacre.

The new lodge is situated at the head of the Mokau arm of the lake, in picturesque surroundings. A view of the front porch of the lodge is seen at left.
