Visitors To Gisborne

Two ships of more than usual interest paid visits to Gisborne recently.

The New Zealand Navy's ocean minesweeper Stawe11 leaving port after a short visit. Built in Australia during the war, Stawell spent her active service in the Pacific theatre. In 1952 she was presented to New Zealand by the Australian Government, and is now used as a training ship.

The Anchor Company's new coastal motorship Totara paid her first visit to Gisborne, bringing 100,000 superfeet of timber and 11,000 fencing posts. Here she is seen leaving the harbour, with H.U.N.Z.S. Stawell in the background.
