Anglican Presentation Ball

The Army Hall was crowded almost to capacity last month for the first Anglican Presentation Ball, at which sixteen debutantes were presented to the Bishop of Waiapu, the Rt. Rev. N. A. Lesser, and Mrs Lesser.

The decorations for the ball completely transformed the hall. Trees with artificial blossoms hid the walls, while the ceiling was obscured with foliage and streamers, set about two revolving chandeliers and huge bunches of balloons.

The graceful presentation ceremony was the highlight of the programme. After the girls had made their curtsey to the Bishop, and assembled on the dais for photographs, they joined their escorts for the debutante waltz, and then formed a bodyguard through which the official party mowed to supper.
