Gisborne's Loss

With the departure for Australia shortly of Mrs L. G. Elliott, more familiarly known to all Gisborne and district as "Aunt Daisy", hundreds of local people, especially children, will lose a friend who has created for herself a special niche in their affections.

Aunt Daisy's long service to the community, which has included unstinting work for good causes without number, has been particularly noted for her association with the children.

For years she has devoted herself to the development of talent in children of all ages --for at least 20 years her sessions on 2XM have given hundreds of children the chance to go on the air.

But her help has not all been given to the youngsters. Pictures on this page show her at a meeting of the Gisborne Old Folks' Association, where she will be sadly missed, and where opportunity was taken the other night to make her a presentation.

Mrs Elliott is leaving to live with her brother and sister in Brisbane.
