Water for All

Both water and traffic are now flowing across the new bridge at Matawhero — and the water beat the traffic by a few hours.

When members of the engineering staff of the City Council turned the city supply into the new pipeline, they finalised a major stage in a construction job which was started while bridge plans were still on the drawing board.

The complete 21-inch link from Reay Bridge to the city will provide ample water for most uses. But until the line is completed to Waingake, and until a larger pipe is installed above that point, completely unrestricted use of water throughout the year is still not a certainty.
