Easter in Gisborne
While most of New Zealand put up with poor weather, Easter in Gisborne for the most part was clear, still and sunny. At Waikanae Beach, some people even went for a swim. Visitors marvelled at the warmth of the late April weather. Campers decided camping was just the life. Brides and new husbands emerged from churches to blink at photographers in the bright sunlight. Winter sports enthusiasts agreed it was just too hot for that sort of thing. Bowlers shed precautionary cardigans.
Yes, it was a good Easter. And then, on the Tuesday, down came the rain.
