What is This?

Well, if you don't know, it's Mother Grundy, the Pantomime Dame, bidding a tearful adieu to her favourite cow in "Jack and the Beanstalk". The cow, if you remember back that far, was sold by son Jack for a few mouldy old beans.

Eddie Martin, the professional stage star, plays Mother Grundy. Paul Slessor.and Ean Boyd are the cow. Howard Cairns (right), weeping into his 'kerchief, is Mayor Puddle duck, no less.

The show will play at the Opera House for a week this month in aid of the Ross Sea fund.

Rehearsals have a zip and zest which promise the liveliest stage show of the season.
