And if bananas grow in Wainui, the biggest beans of all grow in Childers Road. These giant New Guinea beans, each about five feet long, were grown by Mr H. Adcroft, of 344 Childers Road. He says they are like a bean and a marrow all in one. They're certainly whoppers.

Bananas grow at Wainui Beach, according to this picture taken of a banana tree taken at the home of Mrs R. J. Stevens in Cooper Street. Mrs Stevens grows a number of tropical plants, including a small pineapple which is not yet to the fruiting stage. The banana is of the Lady's Fingers variety.
