It's An Old Swiss Custom

In Switzerland, when the rafters are raised on a new building, it's a time for celebration. Flags fly, and a little decorated tree, like a Christmas tree, is nailed to the highest point.

When travellers on the Wainui road saw these signs recently, they could be excused for taking more than a passing interest. For they were decorating Mr and Mrs C. Fankhauser's new chalet-type motel building—and Mr and Mrs Fankhauser come from Switzerland.

The building is part of Mr Fankhauser's plan to provide holiday-makers with first-class accommodation and facilities at Wainui, which he considers easily ranks with the most famous of the Mediterranean beaches.
