Farewell To The Lachlan

The sight of H.M.N.Z.S. Lachlan in the Kaiti Basin has become a familiar one for residents of Gisborne. And since she began calling here regularly in the course of her surrey work, many folk have formed strong and enduring friendships with members of the crew.

But Lachlan's work off the East Coast has almost ended and she will soon begin charting the ocean floor off the coast of Nelson & Westport. From then on she will seldom visit this port.
