Beauty Contest

As nice a bunch of Gisborne girls as the eye could wish to see paraded on the stage at Waikanae during the Christmas carnival. As part of the Jack Maybury show, the girls competed for the Miss Gisborne title. But they didn't have it all their own way, for there was some strong competition from girls unfortunate enough not to live in Gisborne, but fortunate enough to be spending their holidays here. By public acclamation, the winner was declared to be Desley Lloyd, who lives in Stanley Road and works in Adairs. Second was Robin Clapcott, Childers Road, who is at High School.
