Mr W. P. Dunphy, who retired at the end of last year after 34 years' teaching at the Gisborne High School. His long association with the school began in 1909, the year the school was established, when he was the second pupil to be enrolled. After taking his B.A. degree, he returned to join the staff of the school, and except for service in the First World War, has been a member ever since. For some years past he has been head of the mathematics department.

Superintendent W. R. Murray, who has been in charge of the Gisborne police district for the past four years, has now left Gisborne to take up a post in Auckland as superintendent-in-charge of the Auckland Criminal Investigation Branch.

Gerry Mackintosh, son of Mr and Mrs S. M. Mackintosh, Owen Road, photographed while out hunting in Ontario. He served during the war in the merchant marine, and later settled in Canada and married there. An engineer in the copper smelting business, he lives in Coppercliff in Northern Ontario.

Rangi Tawaea, son of Mr and Mrs R. Walker, Turihaua, who recently qualified for the meat inspection examination. He is now stationed at the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Co. works at Hamilton.
