Miss Mary Gillanders Scott, Valley Road, who is retiring as infant mistress of Mangapapa School.
Miss Scott has served the Hawke's Bay Education Board for 38 years. She was infant mistress of Kaiti School for 11 years and also held that post at Awapuni and Patutahi.
In addition, Miss Scott has been head teacher of Nuhaka & Waipaoa Schools and taught for a time at Woodrille High School.

Mr Rongo Halbert, Cook Street, who has been reappointed to the Maori Purposes Fund Board. He is chairman of the Turanga tribal committee, the Turanganui Golf Club, the Maori committee of the Gisborne Museum, and is a trustee of the Wi Pere Trust.

Mr Larry Coy, officer in charge of the Waterfront Industry Commission, Gisborne, who is being transferred on promotion to Dunedin. Mr Coy, pictured here with his family, is an executive member of the ex-P.O.W.s' Assn. and the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Association.

Mr Mervyn Hancock, De Lautour Road, who has returned to Gisborne after three months in the United States as a New Zealand delegate to the Methodist conference in North Carolina. A child welfare officer, Mr Hancock studied U.S. welfare services.

Mr Ian Blair, son of Mrs J. Blair, Iranui Road, who has taken up duties in India with the United Nations' Food & Agricultural Organisation. He is an ex-pupil of Gisborne High School.
