"Rose Marie"

6

It is doubtful whether any stage show–– amateur or professional — has ever aroused greater public enthusiasm in Gisborne than the Operatic Society's 1956 production, "Rose Marie".

Lilting music, lively ballet, colourful costumes, and smooth acting were reflected in box–office returns that set a record for the society.

In the highly exacting medium of musical comedy, scores of hard workers share in the warmth of success. But everyone associated with "Rose Marie" paid special tribute to the leading lady, Jennifer Bull, whose triumph was all the more noteworthy in that it was her first appearance on the stage.
