Drill Contest

Shoes shone brightly and belt buckles glistened when Boys' Brigade units from throughout the district and beyond competed recently in the East Coast drill contest.

Among the competitors were 51 boys and five officers from Napier, Hastings, Wairoa, and Taradale.

A proposed street march had to be cancelled because of rain, but events at Gisborne Intermediate School went ahead according to schedule.

Hastings and Taradale took the major placings with Wairoa runners-up.
