Rugby Champions

While the Springbok tour and representative games have captured much of the attention of Gisborne Rugby followers, competition among club teams for ascendancy in the Poverty Bay Rugby Union's senior and junior competitions has been as keen as ever. High School Old Boys finally came out on top in the senior grade by defeating Marist, and Old Boys won the junior title.
