Museum Directurs

Big surprise came for Mr Atkinson when Dr Falla identified supposed "moa's beak" as belonging to notornis -- the only fossil of its kind ever found on the east coast.

Dr Falla was high in praises of museum's general lay-out and the way the exhibits were displayed.

Noted visitor to Gisborne recently was Dr R. A. Falla, director of the Dominion Museum, Wellington, who came to address the Philosophical Society. He took the opportunity of calling on the local museum where he is pictured above with Mr John Atkinson (right), director of the Gisborne Museum.
