Looking Back On The 'Boks
Three happy, smiling days......and then the 'Boks had to go. But they left behind a host of memories.
On this and following pages "Photo News" cameras look back on their visit.

Rugby Park — highly praised by the 'Boks, both for its beautiful setting and fine playing field —drew a record attendance of 13,000 people for the big game.
Despite measures by the P. B. Rugby Union to boost the seating capacity with temporary stands, many had to stand, like those pictured below on the northern bank.
But no-one complained. The Springboks turned on some of their best back play of the tour.

Falsetto rendition of "Daddy's Little Girl" by Viviers and a rousing version of "Phil the Fluter's Ball" by commentator Winston McCarthy were surprises of dinner.
Boks' tour revived many memories for Maurie Brownlie (right), captain of the 1928 All Blacks who toured South Africa. Pictured with him at Rugby Park are Basic Viviers, Springbok captain; George Nepia, famed All Black fullback; & Dr Danie Craven, a member of the 1937 Springbok team.

With match tension over and the game won, the Springboks were able to relax completely at a cabaret evening in the Poho-o-Rawiri meeting—house.
Home team supporters enjoyed themselves, too, satisfied that the combined side had put up a good fight.
