Mr and Mrs R. C. ("Carrie") Cameron celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a large "family and friends" party. They have lived all their married life at Ormond.

Also celebrating their golden wedding are Mr and Mrs J. B. Williams, 105 Stout Street. After a life-time of farming at Whare-kopae Station, and "Kaimoe," they retired to their present address in 1955.

Madeiine Wilson, 165 Whitaker Street, has been corresponding with Mrs Jackie Hone, Townsville, Australia, since 1948. Even though they have been writing for 27 years this is the first time they have met.

Being farewelled by her parents, Ces and Gwen Mulligan, 203 Rutene Road, is Gwendoleine Mulligan. She is off to Randolph High School near Boston, U.S.A., for one year as an independent student, and will stay with her sister Cecily (Mrs James Borchert) and her husband.

Walter Pearson of Wildish Street is still writing to prominent people the world over, encouraging them in their work and endeavours, and in their adversities. Among the many letters he has received in return is one from film star John Wayne (along with photo) thanking him for his encouragement after his lung cancer operation. Would that we would all think more of others in this day and age.
