All Sorts Of Fish
All shapes and sizes of fish were caught around the wharves on April 13 when the Gisborne Surf Casters' Club held a fishing competition. The competition was for young fishermen, fourteen years and younger, and attracted a large number of keen fishing types.
Club president Bill Gunning (left) presented the prizes to, from left, John Ballard (heaviest fish, a 1lb 9oz kahawai), Graham Madoc (runner-up heaviest fish, a 15½oz kahawai), Andre Destounis (most fish, 75 herrings), Roger Faber (runner-up most fish, 36 herrings), and Brett Mataira (smallest fish, a 69mm tiddler).
