Meals on Wheels
Latest Cook Hospital Board scheme to care for Gisborne's elderly folk is "meals on wheels". The idea is to ensure that people unable to care adequately for themselves get one hot meal a day.
One couple, Mr and Mrs H. Gould, of Stout Street, is already receiving the service at a nominal charge of 1/- a meal. Mrs M. Miles, supervisor of the district nursing service, delivers the meals.
In the diet kitchen of Cook Hospital where the meals are prepared
The dietician, Miss D. E. Ritchie, hands the meals, piping hot, to Mrs Miles
Within five minutes Mrs Miles has arrived in Stout Street with the steel containers.
