Watery Weekend

The Saturday of March 8 was quite involved for Sea Scouts of the district, and also for a number of land Scouts who were keen to find out more about sea scouting in general. In the morning twenty Scouts from Warneford, Te Hapara, Mangapapa and St David's, and one from Wairoa, attended a training session at Anzac Park. This included a run-down on water safety and boating theory, plus some practical work with a boat on the water. This was the start of a two-day course. In the afternoon the annual Sea Scout regatta took place and the very newly acquired skills of the morning were tested against the experience of the older hands in the afternoon.
