The tug-of-war at Radio Gisborne's Country and Western Day at the Showgrounds was one of the big attractions of the day. A large number of teams had taken part in the heats, thus ensuring some thrilling contests in the finals. A special battery controlled monitor made sure that everything went according to Hoyle. The Country and Western Day was the climax to a week of Country and Western promotions run by 2ZG.
