Warneford News

The Warneford Scout Group held a very successful parents' evening in the Scout Hall, Carnarvon Street, just before Christmas. After the Christmas entertainment, by the Scouts and Cubs, several presentations were made.

Mr Harold Bayram, the District Scout Commissioner, was presened with his wood badge training award by the Zone Commissioner, Mr Jim Stevens. Mr Bayram also received his Gilwell Beads and scarf.

Warneford group leader Peter Corrin (left), Cub leader Mrs Doris Freddy (second from left) and Scout leader Bob Stewart (right) presented thanks badges to three parents for their untiring work in helping the group. They, in the centre, are Mrs Betty Foster, Mr Bill Bullard and Mrs Glenice Jenkinson.

With Scout leader Bob Stewart are, from left, Grant Duske, Selwyn Harvey, Peter Carroll, David Blair, Ian Bullard, Andrew Stewart and Simon Mossman. These boys were presented with $30 each towards their expenses for the jamboree at Tokoroa. The whole group pitched in to raise the money, from rag and bottle collections, paper collections and raffles. The boys themselves also raised $10 each.
