Sparkling Soccer

The sparkling play seen at the Invitation Game was very appropriate as this was the highlight of the Gisborne Thistle Soccer Club's golden jubilee celebrations. New Zealand representatives came from all parts of the country to make up two opposing teams. However, Bert Ormond's XI found Dave McFarlane's team pretty formidable, the game ending in a two-all draw.
