Eastern Magic
All the colour and magic of the East was brought to the stage of the Lyttort High Hall by a large cast of Riverdale School pupils when they produced "Aladdin And The Lamp." This pantomime had all the trappings of a professional production and was a credit to all concerned, particularly the costuming which highlighted the performance.
Collecting the magic lamp from the secret cave is Aladdin, played by Margaret Robson.
On rubbing the magic lamp the genie appears and then the fun really starts. The genie is played by Robert Dyer.
Trouble comes when Wishy-Washy (Kirsty Mclntyre) swaps the old magic lamp for a cheap new one.
Prior to the swap, Aladdin and the genie materialized a new washing machine, for the Widow Twankey (Stuart Swarbrick) and this drew plenty of chuckles from the audience.
