Prevention Is The Key

The prevention of crime would be half the success of combating the criminal element in our midst if enough people took enough preventative measures against those with felonious intent. This applies in particular to burglary, theft, breaking and entering, and shoplifting. With the object of helping people to understand the criminal mind and help them with crime-combating measures, the Turanga Lions Club sponsored a two-day Crime Prevention Seminar at the Sandown Park Hotel. The seminar was organised by the Gisborne Police and included addresses by both local and out-of-town police officers. The subjects ranged from home security, theft in its various forms, pilferage and motor vehicle security, to offences against women and children.
