1908 and All That!

As another promotion, during the celebrations of its 70th year in business, the company of Melbourne Cash Ltd held a competition to find the oldest newspaper advertisement concerning its firm. The oldest ad was entered by Mrs E. J. Lloyd, 22 Douglas Street, Wainui. It was in The Poverty Bay Herald, dated November 7, 1908, and in a copy of the paper that was in almost mint condition.
