Colourful Entries

Six hundred entries flooded in for the Gisborne Bible Society's colouring competition held recently. A special function was held in St Andrew's Hall to present the prizes to the placegetters. The drawing was entitled “Let The Word Speak” and the number of colour combinations was almost incredible.

At the prize-giving are, from left, Mr Arthur Hall (Box treasurer) who presented the prizes, Jackie Lees and Dean Bloomfield, who took first place in the special senior poster competition section, Miss Barbara McNaughton of the Child Evangelist Fellowship, who spoke to the gathering of 50 parents, entrants and friends, and Pastor Howard Arnold who compered the prize-giving.

Mr Peter Phin gave a short talk on his three-year stay in the New Hebrides and displayed some of the articles he brought back. He holds a fan and a tortoise shell, while his daughter Dianne holds a genuine grass skirt.

First, second and third in the group one section of the competition are, from left, Graeme Nelson, Karen Swarbrick and Karen Whitley.

Jenny Hyams, Sean Every and John Priebee were first, second and third respectively in group two.

John Campbell 1, Margaret Renner 2, and John Cowley 3, were the placegetters in group three.

In group four the prize-winners were, from left, Andrew McLatchie 1, Alex Campbell 2, and twins Mary and Ruth Chapman, equal 3.
