Our Cover

The Federal Bavarians, photographed in their colourful attire and in the right setting at Waihirere Wines' Ormond Winery, are featured on our cover this month. As stated previously, the band has a very distinctive sound and any function at which they play is bound to go with a swing. Providing some delightful feminine interest for this picture is Kim Coulston while behind her is compere Hans Van der Kuijl. The members of the band are, from left, in front, Fred Pitcher (E flat bass) and Graham McDonald (euphonium). Second row, Ian Hayman (trombone) and Dave Schultz (cornet). And at back, Graeme Lindsay (cornet), Bob Zame (B flat bass) and Harry Smith (cornet).
