67 Years
On The Euphonium

A surprise was in store recently for Mr W. H. ("Bill") Harris, 83 Ormond Road. On the evening of his 77th birthday, he suddenly discovered members of the Gisborne Municipal Band blowing their trumpets en his front lawn. They had come to pay tribute to his long service (48 years) with the band. With them came the Mayor, Mr Barker, to make a happy little speech and a presentation to mark the occasion.

Mr Harris has been playing the euphonium since he was a boy in Brisbane, 67 years ago.
