A Mass Of Wood
This macrocarpa tree near the entrance to "Pouparae," the Cameron property on Bushmere Road, must be just about the biggest in the district, and one of the oldest. Estimates put it near the 100-year mark. The tree has a circumference of 37' 6", four and a half feet from the ground, a span of 114 feet, and a height of 70 feet. Unfortunately, some burning off over the road allowed a few sparks to settle in the tree which started it smoking and smouldering. Luckily rain came at the right time to put it out but whether irreparable damage has been done remains to be seen.
