Trophies to Takitimu

The Takitimu Sea Scouts took the top award, the Ex-Navalmen's Trophy, at the recent Sea Scout regatta held on March 30 and 31. This trophy is for competition between Sea Scout groups in the northern zone of the Waiapu district. Takitimu also won the Open Rowing Shield at the regatta.

With the handsome trophy the group is, from left, in front, Peter Cross, Alvin Cross, Gordon O'Neill, Bruce Wallen, David Markie, Robert Blair, Julian Taylor and Shane Lowry. Second row: Scout Leader Roger Harries, Wayne Beedie, Craig Needham, Jonathan Okeby, Richard Peters, Wayne Smith, Ian Christie and assistant Scout Leader Bruce Austin. At back: Alec Evans, Stuart Harries, Stephen Bayley, Neill Wilcox, Gavin Edwards, Christopher Taylor, Graham Markie, Mark White and Brian O'Connell. Not only did "the group do well at the regatta but three of their patrols took the first three placings at the Gisborne District Camp held at Whatatutu on April 6 and 7.
