Fourteen members of the Canterbury Playcentre Association came north to spend a week at Tikitiki recently to sample life on the East Coast, particularly in relation to playcentre activities in that town. The group arrived by plane from Christchurch and were met and billeted in Gisborne for the night by Gisborne playcentre people before continuing to Tikitiki the next day. The group, with some of their Gisborne hosts, is shown on arrival at the airport.

Coming south from Tolaga Bay was a large group of mothers and youngsters from the Tolaga Bay Playcentre. They spent a short day in Gisborne where they visited the Kaiti Play centre, had lunch in the Botanical Gardens, where some serious see-sawing was indulged in, and visited the fire station before returning home.
