She is Their Oldest Customer

With the announcement last month that Melbourne Cash was celebrating 70 years in business came the news that their oldest customer was still living in Gisborne and was still dealing at the store. Ninety year-old Mrs Vi Walworth, 24 Wildish Street, was one of the first customers of Melbourne Cash when the firm opened its doors for business in 1903. In recognition of the fact, Mrs Walworth was presented with a cheque by the company to mark her valued custom over the years. On that first day of business in 1903 Mrs Walworth purchased some material for a blouse, and some for a skirt, at l/6d a yard, and a pair of gloves for 1/11d. She has been a regular customer ever since.
