Mr Vic Okeby was elected the new president of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce recently. Mr Okeby, who is manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, has taken over the presidency of the chamber from Mr Colin Bell, who has been president for the past two years.

Home in Gisborne visiting her parents recently was Mrs A. J. Dick. Mrs Dick, well-known for her past work in the Anglican Church in Gisborne, now lives in Dunedin with her husband, Alfred Dick, who is television manager for Southern Television. Mrs Dick was the former Patricia Doddrell, and her parents are Mr and Mrs Tom Doddrell, Lewis Street.

The first meeting of the New Zealand Perendale Sheep Society Council to be held in Gisborne took place on March 14. The council is, from left, Messrs E. C. Baxter (secretary), C. Chamberlain, G. Bryant, M. Udy, D. Law, B. Simpkin, Chris Dodgshun (of Coventry Station, Muriwai, where the councillors attended a field day the previous day), J. Bryant, D. Anderson, D. G. Baker, T. Aitchison, C. Beetham, C. Smith and G. W. Smith.
