This 41b 14oz snapper won eighth prize for Audrey Grace of 6 Ballance Street up at the annual Muriwai Beach surf fishing contest, organised by the Eastern Bays Lions Club (of Auckland). Audrey, who has not done any serious fishing before, was on holiday when she won this very nice battery clock as her prize. She is now ticking off the minutes to her next fishing contest.

Some pretty high temperatures were felt again this month so it was not a good time for candles, especially this one from the Wilton Smith residence in Oswald Street. It just could not stand up to it!

This small jar of oil was certainly a death trap for these cockroaches. The jar was brought into our office and it seems as though these pests couldn't resist the oil. Once they got in they couldn't get out, of course. So perhaps with some sweet bait in with some light oil in the bottom of a wide mouthed jar this could be the answer to your cockroach problems. We are going to try it anyhow. Keeping it away from the young ones of course!
