Christine Thompson celebrated her 21st birthday with a party at Ulverstone. Christine is the daughter of Mrs H. Thompson, 484 Palmer-ston Road, andthe ston Road, and the late Mr F. Thompson.

The engagement is announced between Clare, second daughter of Mr and Mrs C. O. Stichbury, 21 Dalrymple Road, and Richard, only son of Mr and Mrs J. M. Fletcher, 10 Patrick Street. Both Richard and Clare are on a working holidayin Cornwall, England, at present.

Mr and Mrs Sam Keelan Keelan, 138 Peel Street, celebrated their silver wedding with a dinner at the Sandown Hotel. Members of the family were also present, as were the best man and bridesmaid.

Among those guests at the Royal Reception and Dinner for the Queen at the Intercontinental Hotel in Auckland during the recent royal visit were Mr and Mrs Maua Faleauto-Leifi. Mr Faleauto-Leifi, formerly of Samoa and now of Auckland, is president of the Samoan Branch of the Labour Party in Auckland. At 32 he is one of the youngest J.P. 's in Auckland, and is very active in social work for Samoans in that city. His wife is the former Rosemary Skuse, daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Skuse, 3 Dalrymple Road.
