"The Lost is Found" Or "All That Water and Nothing to Drink!"

From Mrs Joan Glassford, 806 Gladstone Road, come these pictures of a near catastrophe that occurred during a day in the holidays spent at Pouawa Beach by the Glassford family and relatives. The day was exceptionally hot so some bottles of cold beer were buried in the wet sand to keep cool. They were marked with a log. However, that seventh wave came more quickly than any of the party expected. It moved the log and quicker than you could say "look" the hunt was on. However all was not lost and the beer was found.

Operation Recovery is successful and Brian Sexton (back left) holds up the first recovered bottle. Also at back are Ian Sexton and Patricia Keegan. In front are Dennis Duncan and Julie Sexton.

Beer devining can be an exacting chore. Mr Mervyn Glassford (right) trys the art with a special beer divining rod which, fortunately, happened to be handy at the right time!
