Mr and Mrs R. J. Watts of 482 Aberdeen Road celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 31. They were married in Napier in 1924. Mr Watts, now retired from an interesting and varied career in the Gisborne Waterfront Industry, still takes a big interest in sport, as does Mrs Watts. Mr Watts' chief interests were boxing, in which he had many good fights, and rugby. Mrs Watts won the N.Z. Women's Veteran title at the Hutt Golf course in 1956 and, although no longer playing golf, she still plays bowls at the Riverside Ladies' Bowling Club. Mr and Mrs Watts have two sons, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
