Former Gisbornite John Berry (left), a member of a well known Gisborne family, is pictured at one of his first tasks in his new role as commercial manager of the Pye Record Division in Auckland. It was the presentation of Gold and Silver Discs to visiting M.C.A. recording artist Tony Christie. Well known as a former journalist, entertainment columnist and public relations consultant, Mr Berry made the presentation on behalf of the New Zealand Federation of the Phonographic Industry. The Gold Disc is awarded for record sales in New Zealand to the equivalent of one million in the U.S.A. and was for Christie's recording of "I Did What I Did For Maria," The Silver Disc was for "Is This The Way to Amarillo?"

Two girls from Tolaga Bay who also made their debut at the recent Debutante Bali before the Maori Queen in Wellington were sisters Fay Carol and Dayirnia Bartlett. They are the daughters of Mrs Queenie Bartlett, Tolaga Bay. The girls are pictured with their brother Charles, who escorted them to the ball at the Wellington Town Hall.

Mrs Mavis Seymour of the Mangapapa Scout Group Committee was awarded the Chief Scout's Commendation for lay service to Scouting over the past 20 years. The award was presented to Mrs Seymour by Mr John Chamberlain, District Commissioner of the Turanga District.
