Hot Rod Display

Members of Gisborne's Surf City Rod and Custom Club staged a very interesting display in the Regent Theatre foyer on a recent Friday night. A large crowd passed through the display during the course of the evening.

Frank Pitcher's 1923 Ford T hot rod has been completely rebuilt by hand. It has a 1958 Ford V8 motor, 12 inch rear racing tyres, mag. wheels all round and is finished with eight coats of peony red paint. It took three and a quarter years to build.

Trevor Johnstone and his 1934 Channel Ford Pick-up. It has a 1939 Ford V8 motor, triple carbs, a ¾ race cam, and is still in the process of being built.

Bruce Moore is shown with a Chev. V8 motor, a fibreglass T-bucket body, and 10 inch wide racing tyres, which were also part of the display.
