Miss Winifred Lysnar (centre) received her M.B.E. at the recent Investiture held at Government House, Wellington. Each recipient was invited to take two guests and Miss Lysnar took Mrs F. Balfour (left) and Mrs J. Tomb. Miss Lysnar and Mrs Balfour were together for many years in the Girl Guide movement and are still together as members of the Trefoil Guild, an organisation for ex-Guides. Miss Lysnar and Mrs Tomb have been together continuously in the Okitu Riding Holiday since the scheme started about 16 years ago
At the same Investiture, Kevin Judge, son of Mr and Mrs G. Judge, Riverside Road, received his Duke of Edinburgh Award from the Governor-General, Sir Denis Blundell. Kevin received his award for youth work and leadership. He is now in his first year as a teacher at Christchurch. Kevin is an old boy of Gisborne Boys High School and trained at the Seventh Day Adventist Longburn College.
